Shark Duo Clean

The Rocket Complete with DuoClean Technology from Shark comes with the marketed Triple Particle Cleaning. This is the manufacturers’ attempt to draw consumers to the product because of how effective it is on larger debris, small particles of dust and even particles that get stuck on the surface. It also comes with a much improved brushroll and the Duo Clean part refers to the two different brushrolls the nozzle has. In this review of the Shark Duo Clean vacuum cleaner, as well as looking at other aspects of this vacuum cleaner we will take a look at what you get and how effective it all really is.

DuoClean Brushrolls

The things that makes the cleaning more efficient are the two different brushrolls, there is the soft brushroll and there is a bristle brush. The former will have a pulling effect, any particles it can reach are gathered and drawn in. The latter agitates the surface reaching dirt that might be more embedded. Then the suction comes into play. Having a powerful motor it does have good suction and there are two suction modes, one for bare flooring and shallow carpeting and then one better suited to deep pile carpets and rugs.

Other features of the Shark DuoClean

  • The motor is 100W better than the previous series now at 600 watts.
  • Bin capacity is the same holding about 0.25 gallons or 1 quart of dry. This should be enough to allow users to vacuum 5 to 6 average sized rooms without needing to empty. Of course how often you vacuum and how much traffic it gets will affect this. The bin is easy to empty and easy to clean.
  • Not one of its stronger features in past cleaners and this has not changed with the Shark DuoClean. It has a regular filter pre motor and another regular one post. One is a foam filter and the other is felt. They are washable and do need regular cleaning.
  • This cleaner weighs 9.9 pounds when all put together. When turned into the handheld mode it weighs 5 pounds. This makes it a little heavier than the last series but it does fall under 10 pounds which is preferred for corded cleaners. Its dimensions are 9.84 by 10.24 by 46.46 inches.
  • Accessories include; upholstery tool, dusting brush, multi angle dusting brush, crevice tool, TruePet Motorized brush and under-appliance wand. With them comes a wall mount slot for storage, an accessory bag and storage clip for on board the cleaner.
  • The kind of warranty you can get depends on where you buy from. If you buy directly from the site you can possibly get a VIP lifetime warranty though these are limited. If from a 3rd party you can get a 5 year warranty. Your protection will be better if you go through more respected companies like Amazon.

How functional is the Shark DuoClean really?

Some great things about this cleaner include how easily it changes to a handheld should you need it to. This means when it is time to clean stairs or get around somewhere more difficult to clean than a floor it is easier to deal with and you do not need a separate handheld to do it. The nozzle has an LED light to help make sure you do not miss a spot and it is also quieter than previous versions from Shark. It still has a very good length on its power cord at 30 feet. The handle is ergonomic and it has swivel steering so it is easy to maneuver and turn and comfortable in your hand. It comes with a wall mount making storage easy.

Summary

The Shark DuoClean is a good light cleaner that is a lot more affordable than other makers like Dyson. It is a good option if you are shopping on a budget, and can even replace the heavier upright cleaners in some homes. Its swivel head means you can move around furniture easily and the attachments mean anywhere you need to reach into you can! It is easy to put together when it arrives, it should take less than 5 minutes even. The soft brushroll also means it can be used on hard floors as well as carpeting. It is powerful, cleans well and is fairly quiet. There are a few issues but they are small ones. It does not have HEPA filtration, the bin is small so emptying will have to be done more often and it does not stand on its own, if you are not using it when it is out you will have to lean it somewhere.
